Redoing a letter

Open the Letters room, choose the letter, and write it again. There is no limit and no penalty.

When to bother

Rewrite a letter when it is wrong, not when it is imperfect. A letter that is slightly uneven is your handwriting. A letter that is:

• the wrong case — a lowercase written where a capital was asked for
• much larger or smaller than its neighbours
• sitting off the baseline
• missing a stroke, or carrying a stray mark

is worth doing again, because it will show up in every word that uses it.

The most valuable ones to fix

Common letters do the most damage. If you only rewrite a handful, make them the ones you type constantly: e, t, a, o, i, n, s, r, h. A poor e is visible in nearly every word; a poor q almost never appears.

Your font does not update by itself

A font you have already made and downloaded is a finished file. After rewriting letters, make the font again from the Font room to pick up the change, then install the new one. See Getting your font file and Adding letters to a font you've made.

Keeping more than one version of a letter

Rewriting replaces what was there. If instead you want several forms of the same letter, so your repeats vary the way handwriting does, that is a different thing — see Your a's: versions of a letter.
