Using your font commercially
Pro fonts may be used commercially. Free fonts are for personal use only.
If you're selling something, or using your font in the course of a business, you need Pro.
What counts as personal
Letters, cards, invitations, journals, gifts, your own photo albums, things you make for yourself, your family and your friends. If nobody's paying and it isn't for a business, it's personal.
What counts as commercial
- Products you sell — prints, cards, signs, cut vinyl, merchandise
- Work for clients
- Branding, packaging or marketing for a business, including your own
- Anything on a monetised channel or a business's social accounts
If you'd hesitate about which side something falls on, it's commercial. Ask us and we'll answer plainly: Contact us.
Making a Free font commercial
Upgrade to Pro, then remake and re-download the font. The new file is the one you may use commercially — and it'll be a better font besides, carrying your joins and your variation.
The Free file you downloaded earlier stays personal-use. Upgrading doesn't retroactively change what an already-downloaded Free font is licensed for.
What you may never do
Whatever the tier, you may not sell or redistribute the font file itself — as a font, in a bundle, or on a marketplace. You're selling what you make with your handwriting, not the handwriting as a product. Everything else about it is yours: Who owns your font.
The full terms
The binding version is the Font License, published in full.
