What we each agree to
The short of it: you own your handwriting and your fonts. Here's the rest.
By creating an account or using inklingforge.com (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
1. The Service
Inkling lets you capture your handwriting and generate installable font files from it. Features and limits vary by plan — Free and Pro, plus an invite-only Studio beta — as described on the pricing page.
2. Accounts
- Provide accurate information and keep your sign-in secure. Authentication is handled by Clerk; you're responsible for activity under your account.
- You must be at least 13 and able to form a binding contract.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms (see §7).
3. Your content and your fonts
- You own your handwriting samples and the fonts we generate for you. We claim no ownership of either. Your rights to use a generated font are set out in the Font License, which is part of these Terms — in short: personal use on Free, commercial use on Pro, and downloads are never revoked.
- You grant us only the limited license needed to operate the Service: to store, process, and render your handwriting solely to build and deliver your fonts. This license ends when you delete the content or your account.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Upload handwriting you don't have the right to use — including another person's handwriting, or lettering protected by someone else's intellectual property — without authorization.
- Use the Service to infringe trademarks, copyrights, or personality rights (for example, recreating a known person's script to pass it off as endorsed).
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, overload, or abuse the Service, or circumvent plan limits or tier gating.
- Resell or redistribute the Service itself (as opposed to fonts you make, which are yours per §3).
5. Plans & payment
- Pro is a one-time payment for one month of the full toolkit, billed through Stripe at the price shown at checkout. It is not a subscription and does not renew automatically. Buying again while a month is active extends from your current end date. Taxes may apply.
- When a month ends, nothing you made is taken away: every font, saved version, and download keeps working. Editing returns to Free limits.
- For refund requests, write to [email protected] — a person reads it.
- We may change plan features or pricing prospectively with notice; changes don't affect a month you've already paid for.
6. Our intellectual property
The Service — the software, design, brand, and the Inkling name and mark — is ours. These Terms don't grant you rights to it beyond using the Service.
7. Suspension & termination
We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms or as the law requires. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time; font files you already downloaded stay yours, on your devices.
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We don't warrant that generated fonts will render identically in every application or operating system — font formats have real limits, and we'd rather tell you where they are than promise around them — or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Inkling is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or lost profits or data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10. Changes & contact
We may update these Terms; we'll update the effective date above and notify you of material changes. Continued use means acceptance. Questions or disputes: write to [email protected] first — most things resolve with a conversation.
